Sun Protection FAQs

Quick answers for choosing, applying, and reapplying mineral sunscreen.

What does “mineral sunscreen” mean?

Mineral sunscreens use UV filters like zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide that sit on the skin’s surface to help reflect and scatter UV rays. We do not utilize labratory synthesized materials or chemicals in our products.

How much sunscreen should I apply?

Apply initial coat liberally. Reapply throughout your time in the sun and between sessions!

Is mineral sunscreen reef-safe?

No sunscreen can guarantee “reef-safe,” but mineral filters are often preferred along with oils that occur naturally within the earth’s ecosystems.

Will mineral SPF leave a white cast?

Yes, depending on formula and skin tone. Our product is a physical sun barrier, meaning if you can see it on your skin, that means its working! The presence of cacao in our product does an excellent job of blending with varying shades of skin tone. The natural oils we use re-hydrate the skin and prevent it from drying out due to sun exposure.
